National Board of Review, associazione no profit americana formata da cinefili, insegnanti, studenti, storici, professionisti e membri dell’industria cinematografica, ha decretato il miglior film del 2019. Si tratta di The Irishman, l’ultima fatica di Martin Scorsese con Robert De Niro, Joe Pesci e Al Pacino, che ha ricevuto anche il riconoscimento per la migliore sceneggiatura (Steven Zaillian).
Tra le opere premiate troviamo anche Parasite (miglior film straniero), Quentin Tarantino (miglior regista per C’era una volta a Hollywood) e Adam Sandler (miglior attore per Uncut Gems).
