Annunciate oggi pomeriggio (considerando il fuso orario italiano a partire dalle 13:15) le nomination di questa edizione.
Con le nomination dei 93esimi Academy Awards di oggi si apre la corsa agli Oscar 2021 che per la prima volta si terranno 25 aprile in presenza, come hanno ribadito il presidente di Academy ed ABC.
A dominare la scena è l’orgoglio di David Fincher e Netflix Mank, con 10 nomination fra cui quella per la migliore attrice non protagonista ad Amanda Seyfried, Gary Oldman come migliore attore protagonista, Fincher per la regia e come migliore film.

L’Italia concorrerà nella sezione migliore canzone con Io Sì (Seen), del film La Vita Davanti a Sé di Edoardo Ponti con protagonista Sophia Loren, che dopo il Golden Globe a Laura Pausini si avvicina sempre di più a bissare con la statuetta più ambita. Il Pinocchio di Matteo Garrone entra nelle categorie migliori costumi a Massimo Cantini Parrini e il trucco del premio Oscar Mark Coulier con Dalia Collie Francesco Pegoretti.

Fra i grandi nomi degli attori protagonisti e non, è impossibile non citare quello di Chadwick Boseman, candidato all’Oscar postumo per Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom.
In questa edizione storica per la prima volta nella storia quasi centenaria degli Academy Awards sono in nomination in contemporanea due registe, di cui una cinese: Chloe Zhao e Emerald Fennell, rispettivamente per Nomadland e Promising Young Woman.
La scorsa estate Karey Burke, presidente di ABC Entertainment, dichiarava: “Quest’anno ci troviamo in un territorio inesplorato e continueremo a lavorare con i nostri partner dell’Academy per garantire che lo spettacolo del prossimo anno (2021) sia un evento sicuro e celebrativo che catturi anche l’emozione dell’apertura dell’Academy Museum of Motion Pictures“.
In Italia la cerimonia completa sarà trasmessa in diretta su Sky, sul canale dedicato Sky Cinema Oscar, canale 303, che da sabato 17 a venerdi 30 aprile trasmetterà oltre 90 film premiati nelle precedenti edizioni, disponibili anche on demand su Sky e Now TV.
